Walchand College of Engineering (WCE), Sangli, established in 1947, is a premier and autonomous engineering institution in Maharashtra and one of the oldest in the country. WCE is a government-aided institution and is well known for the academic quality of its Graduate and Undergraduate programs, which are accredited by NBA and NAAC with A grades. Since 2007 the college has been enhanced towards academic excellence by incorporating international-level academic reforms in the curriculum and adopting contemporary practices like credit-based semester system, continuous assessment and grading system, etc. Recently, it has yet again revamped its curricula and learning systems with the active engagement of international faculty and experts. WCE faculty is actively engaged in research activities funded by AICTE, DST, DRDO, BARC, etc., and contributes to research publications. A large number of WCE alumni are working in leadership positions in academia, Government, and Industry in India and abroad.
